Then it goes downhill. The game play is a big change from the Tenkaichi series from the Ps2 days which I was expecting seeing as how the decided to give them the same name. I would have been fine with basically a raging blast 3 kind of thing. In fact I would have prefered had it been that. In this game they made it so that you aren't as directly controlling the game. You still choose when your character attacks but you don't do specific combos with with specific presses and alot of the game is chance based. Example : In melee range I press x three times my character hits the enemy 3 times then the game slows down and I have to pick x or y. If I pick y and the computer picks y then the computer does a counter attack and i am knocked back. If I pick y and the computer picks x then I hit him with a smash attack and can knock him around the map for a little bit. If this kind of thing interests you... CA USA) - See all my reviews = Fun: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi (Video Game) First off, if you're a DBZ fan looking for a competitive fighter with frame data, option selects, or even a tier system; I suggest you take a look at any Street Fighter, Tekken, Soulcalibur game.If you're a DBZ fan looking for that Raging Blast or Tenkaichi "brawler" fix, sorry- while there ARE Raging Blast-like elements, there's a chance you may not like the rest. Now, if you're a DBZ fan looking for a chess-like "thinking" fighter that caters towards a casual audience, and is the most authentic, cinematic DBZ experience to date: Ultimate Tenkaichi is your game. The game is designed around a "heads or tails" 50/50 mechanic where even your mother can play (and actually have fun). That said, players wanting to invest time into the game will no doubt hone their skills on the strict timing of the various dodge mechanics. Furthermore, at first glance one may not realize it, but this is actually a very strategic fighter. As you become more experienced in... A LOT MORE. I liked actually playing the story mode this time, and also going through Hero Mode (the character you create has its own story)..I really didn't find this game at all fun, or at all entertaining after a while. I know it is not a true fighting game like the old ones, and I wish they stayed with the old ways. I'm selling my copy either on here, or just going to GameStop to trade it in. |
