Circle Pad Pro - Nintendo 3DS Accessory (3DS console not included)

Product Description

The Circle Pad Pro is a new accessory for Nintendo 3DS, designed to increase the way the player enjoys Nintendo 3DS software. It consists of a shell that the Nintendo 3DS slots into with an additional Circle Pad on the right-hand side (termed "Right Circle Pad" or "Circle Pad (R)") and three shoulder buttons; these are R Button and the new ZR and ZL Buttons.
The player uses his Circle Pad Pro by slotting his Nintendo 3DS console into the accessory; the console will then recognise the accessory via infrared transceiver.

The new accessory allows some Nintendo 3DS software titles (Resident Evil Revelations and METAL GEAR SOLID 3D Snake Eater etc) to be played more efficiently and comfortably by the use of the new Right Circle Pad (for example, games that are "twin-stick shooters"), as well as offering new features via the new shoulder buttons (depending on software). It is powered by one AAA Battery.

  • New Right Circle Pad
  • New ZR and ZL Buttons as triggers on the shoulders
  • Uses 1x AAA battery; approx. battery-life: up to 480 hours

4.0 out of 5 stars works great but with some drawbacks, February 7, 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I just got it along with my Resident Evil: Revelations pre-order. First thing, the pad looks funny, who designed it? They may call it ergonomic design but I guess the real reason is they have to work around with the existing 3DS ports and controls. Even with its strange shape, it still manages to block the wifi switch and stylus port. The pad itself is not heavy but it does add some weight and bulk to the 3DS console. It operates on one AAA-battery and shuts off after 5 minutes of inactivity. There are three buttons on the circle pad, the R button above the right circle has the same function as the one on the 3DS console. The two shoulder buttons, ZL and ZR, are much easier to reach than L and R buttons on the 3DS console.

Back to the game Resident Evil: Revelations. You can play the game without Circle Pad Pro, it's not required but but the game experience is much better. Here is the reason. On the 3DS console, you will need to press the left or right button along with the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Surprise!, February 9, 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Like everyone else, I was a bit skeptical about this thing. The early pictures were awkward, asymmetrical, kind of ugly, my expectations were low. I finally got my hands on one today, and I can honestly say that I am hugely impressed with how it feels in my hands and how it improves game play (Resident Evil Revelations). Yes, it still looks kind of awkward installed, but you quickly forget (and cease to care) once you start playing with it. The best way to describe it is that it feels like a console controller in your hands, has a nice, natural curve on the bottom that rests naturally in your hands, plus it also adds a bit more thickness that helps eliminate hand cramping (a particular problem if you have larger hands like I do). In addition to the extra circle pad, it also adds 2 lower trigger buttons directly below the shoulder buttons, for a Sixaxis or Xbox like feel. It gives the 3DS a hugely upgraded feel and play experience. The added size does cut down on portability a bit, but... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awkward looking but Oh so Comfortable!, February 10, 2012

This review is from: Circle Pad Pro - Nintendo 3DS Accessory (3DS console not included) (Video Game)
As strange as this peripheral looks, it won't matter considering how nice and console-like it feels in your hand. Yes they should have included it in from the very beginning but it helps out so much and feels so good I don't mind as of this moment. When the revised "Lite" version comes out I"ll get it and give somebody this one but until then, this will do. I really like it!
