All of the the speakers work (as you should expect) and it sounds great. It isn't the same as "real" 5.1 speakers, but if you can't have those due to noise real ones would cause then this will probably be better. There's a hiss due to the amplifier, but only when the amplifier is turned to 100. Turtle Beach says to turn Windows' sound control or whatever sound control you're using to 100 then use the amplifier itself to control the volume. If you do that, you will hear no hiss unless it's completely silent. This is mildly annoying but I hardly wear headsets while nothing is making sound. Turtle Beach markets their headsets a lot by saying "you'll hardly know they're on." A lot of the time this is true, but not so with this one. They're heavy and start to wear on you after an hour, but that will depend from person to person. Another problem is the built in mic. Why can't we remove it... Was really excited about them, the sound quality is great but they are poorly built. We have had them a month and both straps above the earcups have snapped on my wifes pair and one of mine has snapped just this morning. We do not abuse them, this is from just sliding them over your head onto your ears. The section that takes all of the flexing is weak and is held together with one tiny screw. Once the strap gives way, the whole thing comes apart. This headset would be great if Turtle Beach would build them to last. I am very disappointed. 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful On warranty repair number 5 in less than 7 months...., By This review is from: Turtle Beach TBS-2214 Ear Force Z6A Gaming Headset with Multi Speaker 5.1 Surround Sound (Accessory) I picked these up at the NYC ComicCon last year because Turtle Beach had a deal on them. They were premium headphones that sounded/sound great...when they aren't broken. As I type this, less than 7 months into owning them, the screws attaching the ear piece to head band, cracked. To date pair 1 the left speaker went out, pair 2 the amp box connection stopped working, pair 3 the mic never worked, pair 4 the amp box connection was shoddy and kept cutting out and now pair 5....see above. I will never buy anything this company makes again. |
