5.0 out of 5 stars A triumphant return for Nintendo's beloved pink puffball, October 25, 2011

In recent years, Kirby has had quite a few rather interesting outings that took everything we came to expect from his games and threw them out the window for a number of unorthodox directions. He was racing on stars, he was turned into yarn and thrown into an adventure comprised entirely of crafting supplies sans trademark enemy copying, and most recently he's been split into ten versions of himself and controlled only with stylus. While those (and a few other radical departure games for Kirby) were actually pretty excellent in their own right, it's... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Flawed and Fantastic, November 2, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kirby's Return to Dream Land (Video Game)
I've read many reviews stating that this game is too simple, too easy, and almost pale in comparison to previous Kirby games. My guess it that these reviewers played through the first handful of levels simply so they could write their review and get their paycheck. I waited until I finished this game to give a full review. That was a good idea.

This game features traditional Kirby platforming, which includes jumping, sucking, floating, copying powers...all the stuff you'd expect. I must say that this has never been done better. Kirby is an extremely fun character to be, as he has endless ways of interacting with the environment and enemies around him. This versatile arsenal of moves and attacks comes at an odd game play sacrific; Kirby is too powerful for the enemies around him. Until you hit world 5, there will be times when you're ditching copy abilities because you're getting bored of being able to demolish everything in your path so easily. It takes away from the game... 5.0 out of 5 stars Platforming heaven dipped in sugar, October 25, 2011

This review is from: Kirby's Return to Dream Land (Video Game)
This Kirby platformer is sickeningly cute, and fun as all heck, especially with more than 1 player. Multiplayer plays like Kirby superstar/ultra meaning the secondary player assist without having to worry about dying which is perfect for an adult who wants to game with a younger person. It's not really difficult (it IS a Kirby title) so I'm sure nobody will be frustrated. It's also very colorful and detailed and the overall presentation is great. Basically it's a return to Kirby's roots, so expect nothing more or less.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Accidental surprise, March 6, 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Unit 13 (Video Game)
I just happend to download this demo one day because i was bored just to try it out. I xecpected to find a average game at best but came out amazed. This is truly impressive. This game has no campaign. The whole game is based on missions. Each mission has a different objective that you must go through that is anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes long. Missions are your basic survive mission. Then there are speed missions where you clear the area out as fast as possible. Then there are stealth mission. Ive never really been that big a fan on stealth but this game in those particular missions make it work. You can get up to 5 stars per mission depending on how well you play the mission. Once you get x amount of stars there are bonus missions where you have to take down a boss. And the missions as you go through get harder. The controls work great and it is easy to fire from the hip or you can touch the screen to zoom through your weapon. Tapping the screen to zoom is remarkably easy. The game... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite launch title, March 6, 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Unit 13 (Video Game)
Since the Vita was released, I've been looking for a game that made it worth the purchase. I'm not a big fan of the Uncharted series and there aren't any good RPGs out for it yet, so I was pleased when the demo of this game was finally released. Upon completing the demo, I immediately purchased this game. The controls are a little sensitive out of the box, but I was able to customize them easily. If you are looking for a run and gun shooter, this isn't it. You have to use stealth sort of like Gears of War. But if you're looking for a great Vita experience and aren't looking for Uncharted, you should buy this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Game - Like SOCOM lite, March 7, 2012

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Unit 13 (Video Game)
I have played about 1/3 of this game. There are a total of 36 main missions that are pretty short which is good. THe game is presented similar to Angry Birds or Cut the Rope...it has all 36 missions presented in a grid and you move through the missions starting from 1 and open up more. Every time I finish one I want to start another. SO far the missions are all short, which is nice because I know I can jump in and jump out quickly. Some missions I like a lot and have replayed like 10 times, others I played once and may or may not play them again. The graphics are nice, I think they could be a bit better, but this is a launch window game. The game play is the similar to SOCOM games (made by the same developer)...so I was able to pick up and play very quickly. Although it did take some time to get used to the Vitas tiny analog sticks...but once I did they work perfectly. There are leaderboards that compare your score to the rest of the world which is pretty cool. Plus 2-player co-op,... Read more
