5.0 out of 5 stars By far the best clone system., November 7, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Hyperkin RetroN 3 Video Gaming System, Charcoal (Video Game)
I got my Retron 3 today and it already replaced my Genesis and SNES. It's very lightweight and the build quality is definitely not up there with Nintendo or Sega, but it looks decent (the gray one, not the red one) and does what is advertised. It's very convenient to go from playing Genesis to SNES with just a flick of the knob instead of having to plug and unplug av cables, in addition to how much shelf space and power outlet space it saves.

On the NES side, there is composite video and dual mono output (s-video doesn't work on NES). For Genesis and SNES, there is composite video, s-video, and stereo audio output. Composite video on NES is ok, but it's very dark for Genesis and SNES. It's not really a problem since it's better to use s-video for Genesis and SNES anyways. Compared to composite, s-video output is very sharp and bright. Even the standard Genesis systems don't feature s-video output, so this is a very nice feature of the Retron 3. Since the NES side doesn't... Read more

There are some upsides to this unit. It has S-Video for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo games and they do look better with it. There is also two bundled wireless controllers. Three systems in one, eliminating the need for all those power adapters and cables. It plays a ton of games just as well as any real system would. You can have three games in at once. Keeps thing tidy, if not weird looking.

There is also downsides to the unit. Bottom line, the video quality isn't as good as the originals were. They get close but its not as good. So the fact that you can get S-Video only makes it slightly better. The bundled controllers are just fine if your dead center with your system and not too far away. Get too far away or move from center. Controls will start to lag and often just downright stop working. The controllers quality itself is not bad, the d-pad is much better then it feels. Its responds well. The buttons all work fine as long as you have a good... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive RetroN 3 Review by Lo' Down, December 18, 2010

I've had a hit-and-miss experience with Famiclones and other hardware that emulates old video consoles. My original FC Mobile was wack, the FC Mobile 2 was awesome, the Retrogen is great, the FC Twin was cool, and the GenMobile was absolute trash. Literally, it broke a day after I got it. And then I got the FC16 Go, and now I never play it. The cables got all mixed up and batteries are expensive. But enough of that banter. THIS SYSTEM, the RetroN 3, picks up for me where the FC Twin left off. (I know, the FC Twin was designed by Yobo and the RetroN 3 was designed by Hyperkin, I can read).

The system features the ability to play NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games on one console. You already know that. One thing you DON'T know is if it's worth buying. Well, that's why I'm here. I purchased this system after I do what I do before I purchase any system, and that is watch as many reviews as I can. But due to poor internet service I ended up buying this thing on a gamble. + Rubber Feet (Won't slide around if you set it on a table)
+ Matte Finish (No ugly fingerprints)

- Start Button on the top
- Not a felt-bottom
- Xbox Guide button feels cheap

This review is from: HORI Xbox 360 Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Arcade Stick (Accessory)
This is not the first stick I have bought for playing the fighting games. My comparisons come from playing for years and on different systems. I had a very good stick for Dreamcast, then for Xbox, and now for Xbox 360 I have this. I also have one of the new Madcatz Street Fighter x Tekken pro sticks. Between this and the new madcatz stick, I honestly feel this one is just as good except for one thing. The start button is on the right of all the other buttons and if you have someone using it that loves going crazy on it they will keep hitting start over and over again. Also the cord is not very long, definitely not as long as the tournament sticks but long enough for most occasions. Last thing, see notes below regarding.

Pros:
Extremely responsive.
As professional as you can get in terms of the quality of the parts inside.
Can stand side by side to the pro tournament sticks made by Madcatz.
Able to perform very well with this stick with practice of... Read more

This review is from: HORI Xbox 360 Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Arcade Stick (Accessory)
Great stick! This is my first every arcade stick, so I cannot compare it to any other sticks. I researched and found out it had Sanwa parts and it was on sale at the time so it was one of the least expensive sticks with Sanwa parts. I bought it and couldn't be happier. The stick works well. The buttons feel kinda plasticky, but I've been mashing them and seriously hitting them really hard and they seem to hold up well. It still works just like new. Pretty much a great product. I rarely write reviews on things on buy, but this thing is SERIOUSLY FUN. I love being able to slam my hand on a button to execute a move and not have to worry about the controller breaking. Arcade stick is WAY more fun to play with than a controller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome addition to the Gameboy's legacy..., May 24, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Game Boy Micro Black (Video Game)
I bought this little wonder after already owning a Gameboy Advance SP and a Nintendo DS and its worth every penny.

The screen and its brightness settings are absolutely phenomonal, a ton better than the Nintendo DS's.

Plus this thing can fit into any pocket in your clothes.

This thing goes to work with me every day and gets play time every second i can spare, with its amazing 6-8 hour battery time.

But the best thing about this Gameboy is its comfort. It is so small and light that it pretty much floats in your hands when you play it. The buttons and directional pad are so smooth and intuitive and you pretty much hold the whole unit with just your finger tips. Amazing build quality.

If you need a handheld for mainly home use i would recommend a Gameboy SP or a Nintendo DS. But if you need one for the go or as a 'second' system then the Micro is what youre looking for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great unit for adults, September 29, 2005
By
This review is from: Game Boy Micro Black (Video Game)
The Game Boy Micro is one of the best units that Nintendo has ever produced. For adults who enjoy playing games while they are on-the-go, this is the one to get. There are a few pros and cons, but ultimately, it's worth the small investment.

Pros:

- Good battery life (and rechargable battery can be replaced)

- Bright, sharp screen (games are playable despite its size)

- Small size fits nicely in pocket next to cell phone

- Unless you have large fingers, the controls are easy to use

- Sturdy feel (less plastic-y than earlier models)

- Interchangable faceplates

Cons:

- Limited game library for adults (if you are not into Pokemon, you will have limited choices, but if you invest in a Flash cartridge, you open up your options to emulation and home-brew)

- Currently limited faceplate selection (for adults)

- Fingerprint magnet (faceplate and L/R shoulder buttons)... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the new Micro, but I don't know about all the complaints., December 9, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Game Boy Micro Black (Video Game)
I just received a black gameboy micro. I couldn't help but laugh and smile when I saw how small it was. I've seen other reviews on Amazon that say " It's too small. " I don't get that whatsoever. It's called "micro". It says for the description that its only 4 inches in length. I like the fact that its small, and very light. It fits right in my pocket with the case that comes with. The faceplates were great too. It comes with plain black, black and blue swirl (my favorite), and the pink ladybug and flower faceplate. They were a bit frustrating at first but they come off and on easily now. I don't have many games right now but the graphics seem great. The graphics are better than the SP and the screen is a little brighter than the SP. I do choose the micro over the SP because of the faceplates, the small size, and the nice graphics. And for all of the complainers about how small it is should just get an SP or DS and read the description for the products you buy before buying them. I... Read more
