5.0 out of 5 stars Fate/Extra provides solid gameplay with reasons to come back for more., November 7, 2011

At the time I write this, there is one other review by JoshuaKadmon. Everything he says is correct. I write this as a fan of jrpg's, the Fate series, and multi-path games. Once you finish the game's tutorial, you choose your servant (ether Saber, Archer, or Caster class), which represent the difficulties in the game of easy/medium/hard), and your gender, which can change how your servant responds to you in dialogue. The game later gives you another choice which alters some of the bosses you face and interactions with your servant. Throughout the game you are asked questions and have dialogue trees which also alter how the game goes, and wrong choices in certain crcumstances become instant death, so it's a good idea to have multiple save files.

The one thing which differentiates Fate/Extra from Persona (yes, they are very similar, and I would rank P3P as a top 5 game on PSP) is that because of the somewhat screwed up battle system, you must research your opponents... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfectly paced portable RPG, February 6, 2012

This review is from: Fate/Extra Limited Edition (Video Game)
If you a fan of the Fate series this is a no brainer. The dialogue is very well written. It's witty and fun to read. No cliche blabbing that is so rampant in JRPG's, no surprise as it's wriiten by the same person as the superb visual novel. For people not familiar with the series there is still a lot to like. Everything in the game is kept simple, which is great especially for a portable title. A school serves as the only HUB world in the game with a handy menu to teleport to diiferent sections. It's a shame other RPGs lack this feature it saves so much point less walking. The battle system is simple but requires thinking to figure out various attack patterns. The game is set up by weeks. During the first six says you train in an arena where you also complete various tasks to gsin entry to the boss. mfight ait the end of the week. The bosses are awesome. Both the masters and their servants are always brilliantly conveyed with tons of personality. The excellent tunes from Fate/Stay... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Fate is a strange and sometimes intriguing beast., June 15, 2012

First off I'm going to start by saying I have no history with the franchise this game seems to be attached to. I've heard of Fate/Stay Night but haven't seen the source material or any of its other spin offs so I will be writing based on the game in its own context, not the context of it as a part of a franchise. Two things made me aware of the game's existence. The first amusingly enough is the music, which I thought was enjoyable and relaxing. The second would be the parallels some seem to bring up with Persona.

Fate/Extra is a JRPG that some seem to liken to Persona 3 but I think this relation is somewhat wrongly interpreted. The two only relate to one another in a handful of ways I will point out (based on my experience thus far):
- Both involve high school age characters and settings
- Said characters are host to powers or links to outside mythical or historical figures (personae/servants)
- Both are JRPGs and anime-esque in style
- Some emphasis on... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Headset!, October 26, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sharkoon X-Tatic SP Gaming Headset (Accessory)
When i started to shop around for a gaming headset, i mostly heard about two main brands: Turtle Beach and Triton. Many people say that you can't go wrong with either. But, while shopping around, I came across Sharkoon. There really isn't much online in regards to this headset, so i figured i would check out their higher-end headset. (The X-Tatic 5.1 with surround sound) This headset received fantastic reviews across the boards. I figured if the company made quality headsets, i would check out the x-tatic sp...even without any reviews online. And i am not disappointed.

What made me reluctant to go with the Turtle Beach PX21 headset is how it looked. It was not very sexy. The Triton AX-180 looked nice, but it was $80. Since the x-tatic sp was $10 cheaper, i figured i would check them out. Not only is the sound excellent and crisp, but the headset is extremely comfortable and is continuously comfortable for long periods of time (which is important for a gaming... Read more

I really dig using my expensive and well thought out home theater system to play Battlefield on w/ my PS3. But, my wife doesn't dig it quite as much especially when I have a bit more free time and go on a marathon session. I bought this headset after reading the reviews and figured if I didn't like them, I'd just send them back. I have to say that I'd never really heard of Sharkoon but I'm really impressed with these headphones. I doubt that you get any added benefits out of a "5.1 or 7.1" headphone set, so save your money. A true 5.1 or 7.1 system relies on placement of the speakers and it's impossible to place 5.1 or 7.1 speakers correctly inside a pair of headphones.

More to the fact, these things sound really, really good. They have a good amount of low end for my Battlefield action. The highs are crisp too. And the wife can't complain too much when I'm gaming in silence. These thing can go really loud so be careful. They seem to be really well made and should last... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Study, study and look @ The Sharkoon X-Tatic SP!, December 30, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sharkoon X-Tatic SP Gaming Headset (Accessory)
After reading literally HUNDREDS of headset reviews before making a purchase, I decided it was only fair to write one of my own. In all fairness and disclosure, I have no previous gaming experience with a headset at all. I've been playing the last four Call Of Duty games on Playstation 3 with only a BlueTooth mic hanging on my ear. I have, however, maxed out the Prestige levels online for the last three games and am close to Prestige level 4 on Black OPS. I only add this to express that I do have quite a bit of online experience. I feel I am qualified to be an accurate and fair judge of what may or may not be "game-changing".
I decided on the Sharkoon X-Tatic SP headset. The main factors for the decision were price and reviews. At around $60-$70, I felt I could get the quality I was looking for without feeling that I spent too much. There were only a few negative reviews, but you have to be willing to throw out 20-30% of reviews just based on "fan-boy" loyalties and anything... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Why I chose 40GB over 80GB., March 12, 2008

By now, everyone knows the details of the system. I had to chose between the 40GB and 80GB system. For me, it was easy. I don't need any of the extra features of the 80GB system. (limited PS2 compatibility, extra USB, card reader, Motostorm game etc.)I also didn't need the 80GB because I upgraded the 40GB HD with a faster 120GB HD, and it only cost me an extra $55. The 40GB system also has the 65nm Cell Processor. So for less than the 80GB system, I have a faster, quieter, cooler, and more energy efficient 120GB system.

I have both the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. I never thought I would buy a PS 3 but after hanging out at the stores to long during the Holiday shopping I ended up buying one. I must say, so far I'm very impressed. Its easy to see why Sony was charging a lot for this when it first came out, this thing is loaded and the fit/finish seems top notch. Compared to the Xbox 360 the PS3 seems very well thought out. The Xbox some days seems like something I built in my basement. The Xbox is so loud when you are playing a game. I can't figure out why MS would think anyone would want to watch a movie through their HD-DVD player as you would have to turn the movie sound way up to block out the 360's fans.

The PS graphics are very very good, and the blu ray dvd is just an added bonus to a very good game system for the new lower prices. Also, its nice to have the on-line game play be free, compared to the Xbox $50 a year. It's not that the xbox is bad, the PS3 is just more refined. I also... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The ONLY PS3 would run QUIET enough for movie viewing!, November 12, 2007

All the news I read said 60GB was the only way to go if you wanted a PS3 with backward compatibility. Therefore, I rush into nearest BestBuy to get a 60GB when I saw online news said 60GB was sold out in most of retail stores on 11/02/2007.

I was not very happy when I realized my new PS3 was running HOT and LOUD, believe me it was very LOUD. I exchanged it for another 60GB next day. This one was a little better, IMO; however, it was still running HOT and LOUD. I went to Target, and got another 60GB. This one was not any better. I told myself this had to be a design flaw but I would give it for another try. Therefore, I returned it and bought another 60GB from Target again. Four out of four, they were all running HOT and LOUD. I gave up at this point, and returned the last one purchased from Target. At this point I almost wanted to learn to live with the noise since I enjoyed the Blu-ray so much and had some fun playing those demo games.

I went online and did some... Read more
