5.0 out of 5 stars Holy. Freaking. Quality. (instead of crap), October 27, 2010

I'm a Harmonix veteran. I played Guitar Hero 1 back on the PS2 at a friend's house ALL the time. Then Guitar Hero 2 came out of the Xbox 360. I instantly grabbed it and I played all day (and sometimes all night). I was hooked. I couldn't get enough of it. Then Rock Band/Rock Band 2 blew me away.

I'm a musician/artist at heart as well as an avid video gamer. The combination here is perfect. Rock Band was excellent, Rock Band 2 improved it, and Rock Band 3 perfects it.

I grabbed The Doors pack instantly on Day 1 of RB3 purchase and I've been practicing the hell out of the keys. It's a real piano, guys. The game is really re-teaching me how to play piano. It has training, "learn an instrument" for the Pro Drums/Keys/Guitar, and of course on Expert Pro Keyboard you are literally playing the legit piano music for the song. You can then take it to a real piano and play it (and impress all those women with Bohemian Rhapsody by playing it and not just singing along... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock Band 3 is the Only Rhythm Game You'll Ever Need, November 2, 2010

As someone who has had over 10 years of classical piano training I've always had a strong interest in playing music. I taught myself guitar, bass, drums and while I'm not a virtuoso at these other instruments I enjoy playing and practicing them alone and with others.

Along with actually playing real instruments I've been a hardcore rhythm gamer and fan of Harmonix's past titles including GH1, GH2, RB1, RB2, and now RB3. I've invested a lot of money into the Rock band platform over the years but over the last 12 months or so I began to lose interest. Playing along to songs using 5 colored buttons had lost its appeal on me somehow.

Before last week I hadn't played a Rock Band game for more than 6 months. ... and yet prior to getting burnt out I played the game at least 3 times a week. I'm really excited by the direction Harmonix has taken with Rock Band 3 for multiple reasons.

For one, the time spent learning these songs on "plastic instruments" now... Read more

So many more features than Rock Band 2. So much more user friendly. Better visuals. All songs are unlocked when you pop it in the tray, but instead you unlock new venues and outfits, so you still have unlockables.

This game is perfect.

You can now hop in/out with your friends mid-song, you can change you difficulty in the middle of the song. If I want to switch instruments I just grab the new instrument, press start, and take over the profile. What more could you ask for?

The keyboard is great. It's only 2 octaves but feels like a real keyboard... and it's a lot harder than I was expecting. Pro drums is so much fun, I can concentrate on playing my part instead of trying to figure out whether I'm supposed to hit a tom or a cymbal. They also swap the hi-hat/snare pads on songs that require it (think about the mess that was everlong on ghwt; in RB3, I just move your yellow cymbal a little more to the left and fire it up).

There's really not... Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
First of all, this is a GAMING mouse. If you are using it for something other than gaming, then it isn't optimized for you. For example, there is no side scrolling and the mouse is corded. Corded is a good thing for games, because there is lower latency, no need to change batteries (having to change a battery in the middle of a game could be absolutely disastrous!) and you don't have to worry about interference if you are at a LAN party. If you are working in the office or surfing the net, cordless is nice because you get the obvious benefits of being tether-free and the disadvantages are insignificant--you don't care about 100ms latency and if you have to change the batteries at some point, the spread sheet will be perfectly happy to wait for you while you do so.

So, having said that, let's look at this as a gaming mouse. There are the normal left and right buttons and a clickable scroll wheel (as previously noted--no side scroll if your game would benefit from that)... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great balance of features and performance, November 28, 2011
This review is from: SteelSeries Diablo III Gaming Mouse (Personal Computers)
I went to BlizzCon 2011 and this mouse was located a their Diablo 3 Demo stations -- from the first 30 minutes or so of using the mouse I fell in love with it.

Normally I am very particular with my mice, after all I have been using a Microsoft Intellimouse 1.1a for about 8 years because it was just such a good fit and great, reliable performance. Gaming mice, to me, are often overburdened with a bunch of unnecessary features that just end up hiking up the price. The Diablo 3 Mouse is very similar to the well-reviewed Steelseries Xai with a few, positive exceptions:

-- The mouse buttons have less of a stiffness to them than normal mice it seems. After about a half-day's use the clicks are very responsive and take little pressure to actuate. Spam clicking in any game is effortless and with the extended warranty on the buttons themselves I am not worried about them wearing out like so many other mice I have tried in the past have done.
-- The Steelseries Engine... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good and Bad, December 29, 2011
By
This review is from: SteelSeries Diablo III Gaming Mouse (Personal Computers)
Got this mouse for Christmas and installed it a couple days ago.

First Impressions:
The mouse was very easy to install, simply just plug it in and use it, when you're ready to try setting up macros, etc download the software from the steelseries site.
The cord on the mouse is high quality braided fabric which is so important in maintaining the integrity of the mouse's performance. The body of the mouse has a very soft 'rubberized' feel, very comfortable for my hand. The lights on the mouse are behind the wheel and behind the Diablo III name near bottom, these lights pulse and are adjustable for varying brightness and frequency. Performance wise the mouse's movements seem very precise and the mouse is very light so not seeing any hand fatigue issues.

Downside. The mouse's body has a low profile and because of this the two buttons on the right side (im right handed) have become a serious problem. Its almost impossible to move the mouse around without... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The G15's true successor, December 1, 2010

This review is from: Logitech Gaming Keyboard G510 (Personal Computers)
After about 3 years of faithful, hardcore gaming service, my first-gen G15 was starting to show its age. Paint coming off, some keys sticking or unresponsive, backlight occasionally cutting out, etc. Despite this, I'd held off on getting a replacement for several reasons. Particularly, the 2nd generation G15 had only 6 macro keys, yet was still more expensive for reasons I can't fathom. The G110 seemed more like what I was looking for, but still only had 12 G-keys. Ditto the G19, which is probably also the most expensive keyboard on the market. I'm used to having 18 and probably can't live without that many now. Enter the G510, which I've found to be a worthy replacement that is the true successor to the original G15.

Aside from jumbling up the numeric designation, Logitech made several changes to the basic design. The LCD display is now backlit but also smaller and no longer collapsible. The key backlighting has customizable color that is bound to macro keysets. The USB... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A great refresh of a great keyboard, September 23, 2010
By
Terry Mesnard (Bellevue, NE) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Logitech Gaming Keyboard G510 (Personal Computers)
Logitech is on a roll with their new keyboards. They've created an interesting and (usually) easy to follow line of keyboards that range from being perfectly competent (G110) to being absolutely wonderful (G19, G13). Sitting in the middle at one point was the G15. The G15 had very similar features to the G110 (which was a refresh of the G11). It came with an LCD screen where the G110 had none. The only one up the G110 had was in the programmable key department. On the side of all of the G series keyboards is a row of G-keys, which allowed you to do a variety of things, like program specific key strokes or even develop macros. All of these functions are controlled by software, that allows you to sync specific G-keys to specific games. This allows you to load a game, and have a specific key set for that particular game.

The original G15 apparently had 18 G-keys. When they redid the G series keyboards, they reduced that number to six programmable buttons (this is the... Read more

If you are looking to replace your old g15 you will be disappointed.

The build quality is FAR FAR inferior to the g15 . It feels flimsy but worse keys stick, wobble and don't register correctly. Just do a search on g510 spacebar and you will find hundreds of people posting problems. I've had the g510 for one day and I'm already returning it. Space bar sticks 1 out of 5 presses with left thumb, Two g keys stick every time. I thought it might be a defective unit, but after reading all the posts, it seems like the norm. Just a crappy build quality and Logitech does not seem to be responding to any complaints about it over the last year.

Unfortunately I can't recommend an alternative right now. I'm still looking myself. I really like the 18g buttons on the left for MMO's and there really does not seem to be anything out there. I'll update this if I find Anything I can recommend.

I guess I will go back to my g15. It still works but all the letters... Read more
