3.0 out of 5 stars DETAILED COMPARISON: Tritton AXPRO, Sony MDR-DS7000 + Audio Technica ATH-A900 w/ Astro Mixamp, April 24, 2010
This review is from: Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro Dolby Digital Precision Version 1.0 Gaming Headset (Accessory)
After finding a disheartening lack of comparative reviews online I decided that I would write about my own experiences with the above headphones. This review is targeted only at headphones for gaming based on sound from a PS3 slim connected via Monster Ultra Fiber Optic and set to Dolby Digital. I understand there are significantly more options than those I have tested. However, my wish is to give a first-person detailed and reliable account regarding the phones I currently or have previously owned. For a summary of what I found just scroll to the bottom of the review.

As a sidenote I have watched just about every youtube video, read every gaming website review, and scanned through every forum in my search for audio bliss. This is the cumulation of my knowledge and experiences.

Originally I had wanted an all in one processor for DTS and Dolby Digital with a simulated surround sound. I watch most movies and play most games at night, and was trying to "kill a... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, great price, December 12, 2008
This review is from: Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro Dolby Digital Precision Version 1.0 Gaming Headset (Accessory)
There were two main reasons why I wanted to pick up this headset: The first was so I would not disturb others in my household who are not gaming insomniacs like myself and the other was to get an advantage over friends and foes so I can hear where they are coming from and where they are going. The Tritton AxPro satisfies both needs perfectly.

I am currently using the headset to play the game Left 4 Dead on my Xbox 360. The difference in sound quality from my TV speakers (nothing shabby mind you) and this headset is astounding. I can hear the little audio details I otherwise would have missed and the louder effects such as a shot gun firing booms into my ears and rattles down my spine. Most importantly I can hear where someone, or some thing, is. I can hear that hunter zombie growling and scratching off to the left or right in some unseen location just waiting to pounce. When he does pounce his wailing screech makes me want to do one of my own, it freaks me out. I can... Read more

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro Dolby Digital Precision Version 1.0 Gaming Headset (Accessory)
I got these a little more than a month ago, and have been lovin' them since. I was a bit hesitant on getting these as I've read mixed reviews, but I feel that the bad reviews were either a bad set or they just didn't set them up correctly. I wanted true 5.1 instead of simulated surround, and I just couldn't afford a full HT, plus I can turn up the volume up at night without bothering anyone.

To explain some of the "issues", I have read that they sound "Tinny", well right out of the box, I would agree. At first impression I thought "please don't let this be how they sound, or they are going back", BUT I have found, and read, that you have to set them up right. I completely agree. I spent around an hour trying out different volume amounts for the different speakers with the amount of delay as well. Now they sound fantastic. Not "Tinny" at all. Very natural sound with excellent bass.

Also read that they hiss a lot. Sorta True. Again you have to set them up... Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
It's light and medium sized as far as mice go. Bigger than the Razer Naga definitely, but still not huge so if you have medium-large hands then you might feel as though it could still be bigger. Still, it's comfortable to use, and it feels sturdy and well constructed. We've been using it here for a few weeks and it's worked perfectly with no issues.

The optical sensor uses a visible red LED rather than an invisible laser. The lens assembly is recessed which seems to help avoid the problem that many mice have where tiny fibers get stuck to the lens or the edge of the label surrounding the sensor and the optics lock on that and the mouse pointer stops working. That has not happened with this one.

There are numerous buttons which are easily mapped to whatever functions you like in game. For WoW, the integration is done very well making it easy to assign functions to buttons while in-game.

If you're looking for a mouse with a few more buttons than... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but its no Cataclysm Edition Mouse!, October 5, 2011

This review is from: SteelSeries World of Warcraft Legendary MMO Gaming Mouse (Personal Computers)
The Steelseries World of warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse "Legendary Edition" was just released. I managed to snag mine from Amazon.com although it seems none of the major retailers have gotten ahold of this product as of yet.

Packaging: Shipped in a sturdy box with a single plastic air bumper pouch, the box was in great shape. Easy to open (few sealing stickers but you shouldn't need scissors) and once inside, the cardboard insert containing the mouse slides right out. Not too much excess packaging, and the box looks great on display.

Build Quality: Upon initial inspection, the "Legendary" mouse appears alot "shinier" than previous Warcraft mouse models. The left and right mouse buttons are seemlessly connected to the main plastic cover that spans the top of the mouse. You can see all this in the pictures Amazon as provided. The plastic feels smooth and glossy versus the dull matte finish of the previous two models. The base of the mouse appears to have been coated in... Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
I have to say, my husband and I really love this mouse. It's a bit of a competition over who gets to use this mouse, and who has to use the Razr Naga that we have. And that's not just because it's so pretty. I'm going to buy him his own this Christmas, we love it that much.

We definitely both like the size and weight of this mouse much better. This mouse is much larger than our other gaming mouse, and that means it's far easier for my husband to use with his large hands. I have large hands for a woman, and while I can use either mouse comfortably for a couple of hours, this Steelseries mouse is more comfortable in hour three or four.

The setup was very easy and intuitive. Since I had already set up a multibutton gaming mouse before, I was familiar with the concept of having so many buttons on a mouse, and was able to easily assign my favorite commands to the various buttons. Setup took maybe 15-20 minutes for me total. If you aren't used to this process,... Read more

Firstly I'd like to say I'm a 43 year old mom. I got into gaming several years ago and my kids and I have a lot of fun with the Nintendo DS. We have had the original DS, DS Lites, DSi's, and now the DSi XL. I got an XL for myself. My son has many GBA games so he doesn't want one (because the DSi XL cannot play any GBA - Gameboy Advance- games) and my daughter thought it was too big to be portable. She likes something that fits easily into a backpack or jacket pocket. Although I think the XL could I'd probably agree if you are going for portability then the regular DSi should do you just fine. The reason I chose the XL is because I play primarily at home and I play a lot of puzzle games. Someimes these types of games are hard to see, especially the seek and find. I'm hoping this larger sized one helps that.

Even though I knew it was larger it is LARGER than I thought. That's a good thing because it is almost more like a PDA or something as far as size. Nice and substantial... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars It is all about the screen size!, March 29, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I am a sixty year old gamer that likes to play Zelda and puzzle games. I had a black Nintendo dsi and loved the unit except for the fact that I was playing games two inches in front of my nose. In my own little nearsighted world, I got along okay and enjoyed the games. Then Nintendo came out with this XL unit......I got the bronze and think that it looks very fashion forward no matter what your age is. It is absolutely stunning and made my little black unit look pretty sad. That being said, Nintendo really did not promise anything other than a bigger screen and this unit delivers! You no longer have to struggle to see the screen. I have played Spirit Tracks on it so far and do not regret the upgrade from the dsi for even a nanosecond. When you think about it, would you rather watch a large television or one with a tiny screen...this is the same thing. The unit is larger but not so large that I would not put it in my purse and play it on the run. So far though, I have not... Read more

Nintendo does it again!

I am going to be honest when i say i really wanted the BURGUNDY colored DSi XL. However, when i stopped by my local Toys R Us today, there weren't any on display. I couldn't imagine myself walking around with a Pink DSi XL. I'm a guy after all! Hahaha

This is an extremely well built device. One can feel the quality when the device is in your hand (Even though it says Made in China on the back). After all, this is Nintendo & they always deliver. I never upgraded to the DSi and i am so glad i held off because i didn't want to sacrifice my DS Lite and lose out on all my GB Advance games. I have been waiting for this device ever since i heard it was coming out last holiday and it's finally arrived in the US. I am beyond pleased with my upgrade. For anyone who is debating on whether they should shell out the money for the DSi XL - I would recommend that you do yourself a favor & UPGRADE! For the two huge screens alone,... Read more
