I upgraded to this Turtle Beach Ear Force XP300 from a pair of MW3 Ear Force Bravos, so most of my thoughts and comparisons are from my experience with those.

Set up:
I found these just as simple as other models of Turtle Beach headsets. I set mine up with a PS3, and just as with previous models, you use an included RCA splitter cable, transmitter (XP300 dual-band) and a USB charging cable. To chat via Bluetooth on the PS3, you sync it by going through your PS3 main menu in Settings -> Accessory Settings -> Manage Bluetooth Devices. Start the system scanning for this new headset then press and hold down the Bluetooth button on your headset at the same time. It will beep and the two will be paired. You then need to select this headset in your PS3 Bluetooth menu to start using it. If prompted for a code it's "0000". For the xBox, there is an included XBA Bluetooth adapter that connects directly to the controller to set up Bluetooth chat... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Turtle Beach finally hits the mark, April 15, 2012

Having tolerated the Turtle Beach X41 wireless headphones for a while, stepping-up to the XP300s has been incredibly satisfying. Turtle Beach seems to have finally provided all the functionality that I've desired (plus some I didn't expect), while improving the overall comfort and feel of the headphones. While a few things have been overlooked, my overall experience has ben positive.

Comfort: I can wear these for hours. The padding on the earcups is very comfortable, and they don't make my ears (or head) warm. The over-the-head band is comfortable as well, but while the headband expands sufficiently to increase size, I still wish they were just slightly smaller. However, they don't fall off and they stay positioned while moving around.

Sound: There are two things to consider regarding sound quality with wireless headphones:
1) the transmission through wireless. These are considerably improved over the X41s I was using. I can't detect any hiss during... Read more

The headset comes in very handy as it could be used both for gaming and listening to music. Unfortunately the headset doesn't come with an HDMI cable standard as most xbox systems are now HDMI capable. This would provide better sound quality in my opinion.

I also enjoy the Bluetooth feature that allows the headset to pair with your phone. This comes in very handy while gaming to be able to answer the phone with you having to pause a live game. I do think there's a missed opportunity here as
well though as the headset only works for phone calls and cannot be used as Bluetooth headphones. It would be nice to be able to pair them with my phone and just listen to music.

As far as gaming goes the sound is great and the different tone settings is also a nice addition. Having the volume control right on the headset is very convenient as well. The size of the headset, at first, is sort of heavy but you get used to it rather quickly and it becomes an afterthought... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Shame on Gearbox, February 19, 2013
By

= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Aliens: Colonial Marines (Video Game)
I don't think people would have been as upset about the game's quality if Gearbox did not show false demo's and footage claiming it to be the game you are going to get. This is not the game you saw in any of the trailers or demos. This is a small fraction of it that was pushed out to hopefully sell on the Alien name. I love the film Aliens, but this is a disgrace to it. The games "story" lasts around 5 hours with some of the worst Team mate and Enemy AI you will ever encounter. If you thought Aliens were scary in any way, this will completely change your opinion. They will just stand in front of you waiting to be shot or get caught on the wall or ceiling, unable to move until you kill them. Half the game you are not even fighting Aliens, you are fighting generic soldiers who wear baseball caps....no seriously someone thought a soldier in the future would wear a baseball cap.

Multiplayer doesn't fare much better. I play a lot of online games, but this one in... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Such a Failed Opportunity, February 12, 2013
By
No Code (Detroit, MI) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Aliens: Colonial Marines (Video Game)
Let me start off by saying I'm such a huge Aliens fan. I have one of the designs of the xenomorphs that Giger did tattooed as a sleeve on my arm, I love 'em. This game was something that I've been anxiously awaiting the release of. I woke up on release day to read how horrible this game was, the graphics, etc... but I still said that I'm an Aliens fan so I'll pick up my reserve of it and try to love it the best I can. Yeah...easier said than done. The graphics are beyond laughable. There is this canister on the ground that from a distance looks cool all lit up, something ala Dead Space the stomp containers...but when you get close to it, the lights are so pixelated and blocky that it doesn't even look like a light, it's terrible. Now apply that little detail to the rest of the game. It looks horribly unfinished, the mouths don't even move the right way when the characters talk. The dialogue is very stiff almost like people were held at gunpoint when reading their lines. The... Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Aliens: Colonial Marines (Video Game)
A while back I wrote a review which stated "Developers give to professional game reviewing companies a piecemeal display of the actual product to review, and when the final product is sold based on those reviews it is NOT what was advertised".

Randy Pitchford the CEO of Gearbox Software originally worked for EA (Electronic Arts). When he created his own gaming company years after leaving EA, he and Gearbox Software earned credit for their reputation by creating "Borderlands". After earning a reputation in the gamin industry and community, THIS game right here that you are considering buying is the game that will remain in the minds of consumers when ever placing any faith in Randy Pitchford and Gearbox software ever again. Why? Because "if" you purchase this game you need to know "what" you are paying for. ANYTHING you read in this review is something that can be researched on the web, and found repeatedly by example after example... Read more
