5.0 out of 5 stars For fans of previous Disgaea games, September 6, 2011

Disgaea 4 offers some tweaks and improvements from its predecessors but the core gameplay and mechanic stays the same. If you didn't like any of those, you won't like 4, but if you haven't tried this game genre (FF Tactics, Ogre Tactics) I'd definitely give it a try, it's very unique.

Now is Disgaea 4 worth it or could you just pop in your Disgaea 3 disc and not miss a thing? The answer really depends on how much the tweaks matter to you. Here are the ones I felt were most important:

Graphics: They updated all the sprites and animations so the characters look really sharp, nothing revolutionary but the artistic feel is improved.
Characters: I didn't particularly like the characters in 2 or 3 but I think 4 has a very nice group of characters whose chemistry might end up rivaling that of Laharl and friends. The story is still pretty over the top and plays a minor role in the game but the jokes are less forced than 2 or 3. Voice acting is top notch... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a Worthy Successor to Hour of Darkness, September 12, 2011

I will admit up front that I am a Disgaea fanboy. I bought two copies of the original on the PS1, and I bought it again on the Nintendo DS when it came out, and have hundreds of hours on both versions. I also have Disgaea 2 and Disgaea 3, although I find less to brag about there than I do the original. Disgaea 4 though is an entirely different story.

The Changes
One of the first things you will notice is that there is a smaller amount of classes available in this game compared to Disgaea 3, and I count that as a good thing. D3 tried to be "PC" and have both a male and female version of as many classes as possible, meaning you'd get a male Gunner and a female Gunslinger, which were still basically the same class. While some classic classes don't make a return (no angels, no EDFs), there are new ones to compensate (including one that is very much like an upgraded EDF), as well as classes from the previous two titles like Beastmaster and Sorcerer. Geopanel and... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS HANDS DOWN, THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PURCHASED!!!, April 13, 2012

i'm so glad i'm retired, because if i wasn't, i'd loose every single job i'd ever get because of this game! my ruitine: i wake up, eat breakfast, clean house (2 hours), play disgaea(1 hr) do yoga and shower(2hrs) play disgaea(6 hrs). it's all i can think about!!! my daughter plays it with me in between her homework and martial arts. this is alot of video game time for me as i used to only log 1 hr or so a week. this game is the best! the story is top notch and the voice acting is incredible. there's always something to level up, modify, equip, new skills to learn, it's paradise for someone who doesn't want to spend alot of money on games. this one will definately keep my daughter and i busy for the next year or so. by that time, we'll have bought a ps vita with disgaea 3 for when we move to japan in december. definately buy this game. i just don't see how you could possibly go wrong in doing so.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best yoga and Pilates title to date (in an admittedly lackluster field), December 15, 2010

It's been a long and hard road for those looking for good Yoga and Pilates programs on the Wii. Wii Fit provided some Yoga exercises which by most accounts, while a decent demonstration of the potential of the Wii balance board, were a bit rudimentary and disjointed. The first "pure Yoga" title for the Wii, Dreamcatcher Yoga, was an unmitigated disaster both from a Yoga perspective and a technical perspective. The first "pure Pilates" title, Daisy Fuentes Pilates, didn't fare much better.

NewU Fitness Yoga and Pilates is actually the second "NewU" fitness game developed by Lightning Fish games to hit the US Market. The first was a game originally released in Europe as "NewU: Fitness First Personal Trainer". However, when Ubisoft (the US publisher) brought the game to the US they inexplicably changed its name "My Fitness Coach 2" (In a boneheaded move, they apparently attempted to cash in on the huge success of the original "My Fitness Coach", but ended up alienating fans of... Don't get me wrong -- I love my Wii and its balance board, but the fitness games that come with the board can only take you so far. This is especially true of the Yoga poses. Do one pose, stop, do another pose, stop. Very little of the fluidity and grace of the yoga I know.

So I was eager to try the New U Fitness First Yoga and Pilates. And I give it a resounding Yes!

Here's my take on this "game."

PROS:

1. Even though I have practiced a little yoga, I began as a rank beginner and got a solid workout. I can see that as I improve, the yoga routines will become more challenging. Just what I wanted.

2. When you set up your profile, you can indicate your goal for your practice. For example, I want to lose weight, but someone else might practice to relieve stress.

3. You can see your weight in the profile section, and the program will track your progress.

4. It's not just exercises. There are a number... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A great Yoga workout, even for those familiar with a Yoga practice!, December 23, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: New U Fitness First Yoga and Pilates (Video Game)
I was hesitant to purchase this as Wii exercise games have been hit or miss, and with far more misses in the Yoga / Pilates category. This last Pilates offering was terrible and the reviews on the Yoga game were so poor I did not even bother to give it a try!

This game has favorable reviews on the web and as someone who likes and practices Yoga on a regular basis, I decided to give it a try! I was pleased I did!

I have practiced Yoga on and off for 10 years, and regularly attend Yoga classes ranging from a basic Hatha 1 to a more challenging Vinyasa 3 However, I would like to practice more often but not all classes are convenient to my work schedule. I was looking for something that offered a challenge and a format that differed from a traditional workout DVD. I found it in this.

It begins in much the same way as other exercise related games - asking your height, body shape, taking your weight then asking what you are looking to achieve from your... Read more
