Sorry about the poor quality of my voiceover and overall fatness of my face. I'm working on fixing one of those problems. Won't say which. Overall opinion: there's a lot of potential in this device, but not a lot of substance yet. Using a motion controller to blast away zombies in Left 4 Dead 2 puts a big ol' banana grin on my face. The technology behind the Razer Hydra isn't perfect yet, but it is pretty darn close. The one issue I initially had with this device was interference from surrounding electronics. Things that have powerful magnetic fields (some speakers, laptop power bricks, etc) have the potential to cause some jitter of the cursor. This issue is very unlikely to effect you, and if it does the resolution simple. For me, the solution was just to move the base station more towards the front of my desk. [EDIT] After some testing to find out what was causing my level of jitter, I found it to be my Asus 23" 3D monitor. With the monitor off, my jitter drops to basically nothing (tested this with second monitor). Hoping to hear some good news from sixense regarding this, but seems that I just have a highly interfering product. The Hydra is still perfectly... It has 3 major problems that it needs to over come: 1) Jitter 2) Controls Mapping Software 3) Game/Software Support If you're willing to work with the Hydra then you may be able to partially overcome these issues. 1) To remove Jitter you need to move the base in front of your keyboard. Basically as close as you can to the controllers. 2) Most recent alpha software available from Sixense but it's very difficult to use. Can work well if you love to tinker with software. 3) Only main stream game with direct support for the Hydra is Portal 2. Beyond that you may ask yourself, "Why am I not just using my mouse and keyboard instead?" You can get it to work with other game, but it's a pain. I think Sixense needs to partner with Oculus Rift (Upcoming awesome VR goggles) and put a Sixense sensor inside the Oculus Rift. Oculus Rift currently has problems with horizontal drift... It uses Microsofts own wireless technology, so just like the controllers... you just hit the guide button and you are ready to play. It has two settings via a switch for different games. Most everything uses the A setting and only a game or two use B. The stick comes with a little plastic wrench that allows you to adjust stick height and button placement, which is really nice if you hands are bigger or smaller than the default setting. The aesthetics(look)of the stick is slick. Better than the other two out there(Ace Edge and Madcatz older stick). The acceleration is handled by a slider towards the back of the stick, which offers a perfect amount of tension so you dont overshoot your target speed. Most of the important fit paramaters (height, rake angle, head angle) are adjustable to make it quite comfortable to use. The button placement is great for the games that it is compatible with. My complaint is that there is too much of a dead-zone when moving the stick. If you are trying to make minor adjustments, the stick has to be pushed well outside of the center position before any movement registers. This makes fine control during these games difficult. Overall, this is an awesome product idea; it would be much more user friendly if the movement tracking was more sensitive when making small motions. Set up is a little difficult, since it tells you to hit the connect button on the Xbox and the controller, but it doesn't show where the connect button is (on the bottom with 3 little white arcs above it). Once connected it is a pleasure to use, and adjustable to fit any size hand. Be sure to get a battery charger and some rechargeable AA batteries because it does not use a charger or a cord. Unfortunately, this was the case for the Turtle Beach DPX21's. The good things first. They truly sound great. They don't have the absolute best sound on the market, but they DO greatly enhance the level of immersion in games, and they do provide a great advantage in popular competitive games such as COD/Battlefield, etc. They don't have true surround sound (they offer simulated surround sound) but that doesn't mean that you don't have a sense of directionality besides left vs. right, quite the opposite- you'll be amazed at the level of 3-dimensional precision that these headphones add to your sense of perception while playing a game. Despite the fact these are headphones, you will FEEL the bass reverberating between your ears! The fact that these work with pretty much any audio source you'll run across from stereo analog input to digital fiber optic is pretty sweet. I've owned many headphones. Be it from cheap stereo to "pseudo-surround", such as the Plantronics Gamecom (pseudo-surround) and I even have a pair of the mid-line SHURE headphones (they have reasonable bass response), this pair will blow them away. Sound is crisp in the mid/high range as well. For the price, you certainly won't be dissappointed! If you're a SHURE headphone fan, these will really impress you. The only downside to these are the MASSIVE amount of cables that accompany them. It's not that there's many, it's just that they're really LONG (which is GREAT in most cases!)... Besides the 5.1/7.1 ability (separating it from the lower tier model), is the fact that it is usable on X360, PC, and Mac, which is fantastic for me since I game on literally every modern platform. My PC gaming sessions, audio/video work on Mac, voice chat/calling, has been as great an experience as on my preferred gaming platform, PS3. I mention this because I've played with dozens of headsets over the years and nothing comes close. As far as making calls over Google Voice and Skype, the good news continues.
