Here’s How it Works.

It’s easy to place photos on your PSP system!
  1. Attach your PSP to your PC through a USB cable — which will make the PSP an external drive.
  2. You’ll then be able to copy your photos (JPG, TIFF, PNG, GIF, or BMP formats) to your Memory Stick Duo (make sure your Memory Stick Duo is formatted for use on your PSP and that you place your photos in the folder labeled Photo).
  3. You can then go to the Photo icon on the PSP system’s XMB and select the photo that you’d like to view.
You can also beam photos to a friend in the vicinity who has a PSP. Make sure that both of your PSP systems have the Wi-Fi switch set to On.
  1. The photo ‘Receiver’ should go to the Photo icon on the PSP system’s XMB, select the location to save the photo and press .
  2. Select ‘Receive’.
  3. The photo ‘Sender’ should go to the photo to be sent and press .
  4. Select ‘Send’ and press .
  5. The photo will be beamed via Wi-Fi to your friend’s PSP.

Here’s How it Works

To access the Internet on your PSP system, first make sure that you are at an accessible hotspot and that your Wi-Fi switch is set to ON.
  1. If you are at a new location, you’ll want to select the WWW icon on your PSP system’s XMB screen, and then follow instructions to set up a New Connection.
  2. Once you have tested this connection, select the WWW icon from your PSP system’s XMB screen again.
  3. Press and then to access the URL bar, or scroll over to the Bookmarks icon (noted by the ‘heart’ icon) and select a site.
  4. If accessing through the URL bar, after pressing , the on screen keyboard will pop up. Enter the desired website URL and your PSP will connect you to that site. Once the web page is shown, press to hide the toolbar.

TiVo-To-Go™

Here’s How it Works

  1. To access your TiVo content for playback on your PSP, your TiVo Series2™ must be connected to your home network (connecting it to your PC).
  2. Next, go to www.tivo.com/tivotogo to download the TiVo Desktop Plus software. This will allow your PC to convert the TiVo files to a PSP readable format. TiVo charges a one-time fee of $24.95 for this service, payable via their website.
  3. When TiVo Desktop Plus has been downloaded, click the box in the ‘Preferences’ menu to ensure files are converted to PSP format.
  4. Transfer the shows you wish onto your PC. The PC will then automatically convert the files into PSP readable files and place in a separate portable downloads folder.
  5. You’ll then need to connect your PSP to your PC via the USB cable — which will turn the PSP into an external drive. Make sure your Memory Stick Duo has been formatted for use on the PSP and that you have updated your PSP system’s firmware to version 2.80 or later. From there, you’ll be able to enjoy your TiVo content on your PSP!

Pros:

+A Very Powerful Handheld Device
+Plays music, movies, and allows you to look at photos
+Browsing online is fun
+A lot of accessories available
+Now has a good library of games
+Easy interface and control
+Very detailed screen and large

Cons:

-Online browsing isn't that much fun
-Can't organize a music library and UMDs aren't all that fun to watch, even on road trips
-The battery life isn't long lasting
-The screen is easily damaged

When the original PSP launched back in 2005, it eventually became subjected to heavy criticism. Not necessarily the console itself, but mostly that much of what it did, people didn't see the use for in a handheld system, and the fact that its library of games wasn't incredible. Nevertheless, the PSP has still shown itself to be a powerhouse of a console.

I was looking for a trip companion since I travel a lot. My options were between an IPOD video (80 gb) and Sony PSP to provide multiple media and entertainment on the go.

Pros of PSP over IPOD

1) Gaming is great.
2) Screen is big enough to watch a movie.
3) WiFi browsing is decent for airport/hotel hotspots.
4) Doesn't tie you up with any specific media manager.

Downsides of PSP over IPOD

1) Battery could last longer. I am getting a 4-5 hr. battery life. Good that many planes are coming with 110V power supply.
2) No HDD with the unit, but With a 8 GB memory stick is possible to upload all media you need for a trip and if you are always close to your notebook (my case) it's possible to update memory contents.
3) Music playback software is very, very basic.
4) Unit is bulky.

At the end, PSP was the winner mainly for screen size and gaming features. So far (2 weeks) I am very pleased with the product... Read more

Enough good things have been said about this PSP2001 (aka PSP slim and lite)
Just to emphasize
Pros:
- Top notch screen
- Playing Madden on this and my xbox felt the same
- Extremely easy controls (well built buttons)
- Light weight (won't feel the weight when playing for long hours)
- Battery hardly used when on sleep mode, I have put this on sleep for days and then continued my game from where I left!
- Well designed
- Video quality is amazing
- Video podcast download over the wireless is a GREAT add-on. I watch CNN highlights on this.
- Updating firmware was easier than eating a muffin !

Cons:
- None that I know of !
- A slight disappointment, if I may, I bought the component cable to connect to my 51" TV. The video quality of the podcasts was unbelievably clear. Now, I knew that the game won't use the entire TV screen (for those who don't know, the game will use about 60-70% of your TV screen). But the... Read more
