This is my 3rd MadCatz Bass controller, the first two were the original wired versions, and both were defective. I ended up keeping the second one - the defective switch was the start button, which until RB3 wasn't used much. Once the family moved to playing RB3, it ended up collecting dust and I used a standard guitar controller. I really missed having the dedicated controller, so when I saw a $40 price tag on this bundle, I grabbed one hoping for better luck - and it paid off.

The wireless version (the one included in this bundle) is a second-generation version of the controller, and the build quality feels much better than the original - the switches are all solid (the wired controller's were mushy) and the fret buttons are silent but responsive. Just got the bass today, and there is a strange spring noise coming from inside the plastic. Not noticeable when the music is playing, but worries me that it may not last very long. I like this bass mainly because it has the headset port to talk to other players while you play.
Box the bass came in says RockBand3 all over it, but the guitar itself (and the instruction manual) all list Rockband2. There's a switch on the back to swap it from RB1 to RB2 mode, but nothing about RB3. Not a big deal, it works in RB3. Haven't tested the headset port yet though.
Getting used to the dual strum but I don't see it being an issue. It's actually pretty cool so far.
Had to use the sync button on the xbox (next to the USB ports on the front) which I've never had to use before but once it was sync'd up it was all good.
